Test: Long gone are the days of countless layers of clothing that guaranteed cyclists maximum sweat production with minimal freedom of movement. Bikers who don't shy away from wind or weather can't do without a modern softshell jacket these days. One of these multifunctional jackets is the Rose Pro II WINDTEX thermal cycling jacket, which has had to prove its worth in recent weeks.
The Rose Pro II WINDTEX thermal cycling jacket is made by the Italian cycling clothing manufacturer Giordana. It is therefore not surprising that the name of the Italian brand is not only on the label, but that the jacket is delivered by the sender directly in the original Giordana packaging. However, the visual appearance of the jacket does not indicate Giordana - the lettering and logos shown come exclusively from the sender. The jacket is available at a price of 119,95 euros.
The breathable, water- and wind-repellent WINDTEX material as well as the insulating, fluffy inside should guarantee a perfect climate balance. The jacket is closed with a continuous front zip, which is completely backed. The high stand-up collar fits just as well into the picture of a well thought-out cycling jacket as the longer back part and the elastic waistband. The processing of the Rose Pro II WINDTEX thermal cycling jacket is of high quality and has no faulty seams.
On the trail, the jacket impresses with its high wearing comfort and freedom of movement. The Rose Pro II WINDTEX thermal cycling jacket has a slim cut and fits the body perfectly. The function of the WINDTEX membrane is also convincing. Neither wind nor water are able to overcome the membrane from the outside. The climate budget works perfectly. The high stand-up collar and the backed front zip play their part in making trips on cold, wet days as comfortable as possible.
Depending on the base layer, we found the ideal conditions for wearing the jacket at temperatures of around 0 to 10 degrees. The elastic jacket waistband and the elastic sleeve cuffs ensure a tight fit and thus prevent drafts. The waistband of the jacket also has a silicone strip to prevent it from slipping. The Rose Pro II WINDTEX thermal cycling jacket offers storage space in the form of a three-part back pocket, which has an additional compartment with a zip.
After the week-long test, the jacket showed the normal signs of wear in the form of slight roughening caused by carrying the backpack. Otherwise no abnormalities! The seams still look just as good as on the first day. Top! Criticism? For road traffic, we would have liked a little more reflective elements and the back could be cut a little lower.
