February 7rd 2015 by Andrew Waldera

Test: Thanks to modern softshell jackets, nothing stands in the way of having fun biking even in icy temperatures. The ingenious construction of these functional jackets has fundamentally revolutionized the onion skin principle. The ROSE WIND FIBER winter jacket, which we have been able to test extensively in recent weeks, is available to active cyclists at a very affordable price for winter rides.

With a price of 89,95 euros, the ROSE WIND FIBER winter jacket is in the lower price segment of commercially available softshell jackets. Unfortunately, with inexpensive products, the quality often falls by the wayside. Our test should clarify whether this is also the case with the ROSE WIND FIBER winter jacket. We ordered the jacket in the obvious neon/black color combination.

The jacket convinces with a high-quality workmanship and a good cut. The fit of the tight-fitting jacket is just as impressive as the low cut of the back. It is astonishing that the ROSE WIND FIBER winter jacket can boast some very good details despite the low price. For example, the jacket can be adjusted at the hem and the many reflective elements ensure good visibility in poor visibility conditions.

The two-part back pocket, which also has two zippers, is also very nicely designed. Another closable pocket is located on the left upper arm. The penetration of wind into the sleeve is prevented by a wind stopper on the sleeve hem. A lined flap at the upper end of the zip reliably protects the neck from chafing. The soft inner collar is also very comfortable to wear.

The breathability and wind protection of the WIND FIBER material used by Rose are absolutely convincing. In our test, the ROSE WIND FIBER winter jacket in combination with a jersey offered us perfect riding conditions at temperatures above 0 degrees. When it was below 0 degrees, we also had to wear a warm undershirt so as not to get cold.

The high wearing comfort and the good climate balance of the jacket make driving fun even in winter. The jacket has stretch inserts on the back and on the sides of the arms. Well protected from the wind, these also make a positive contribution to the good climate balance. What not only pleases housewives or househusbands: the jacket is easy to clean after driving in dirt.
