I sit excitedly in front of the computer. I keep typing a new sentence in order to delete it immediately. After half an eternity, the email to the head of teamTBB is ready. I have never applied to a team before. This time my gut tells me that something can come of it. The next day there really is a reply email in my inbox. Full of curiosity, I open it and it says that I should get in touch with the coach for Germany, Josef Spindler. Again I push it a little in front of me. After a few hours I finally pick up the phone, my voice is a bit shaky. At the end we arrange a meeting in Bad Tölz. Josef gave me the chance to realize my dream as a professional triathlete in teamTBB. After just 3 months of training with Jo, I got the German championship title at half distance, was 4th at IM Frankfurt, won Cologne226 and TriStar222. All of this was almost 5 years ago.
My gut feeling pointed me in the right direction. Even though uphill rides alternated with lots of downhill rides, I was proud to have been a part of TBB. TeamTBB is the most successful triathlon team. Athletes like Chrissi Wellington, Caroline Steffen, James Cunnama, Mary Beth Ellis, Jodie Swallow, Andrej Vistica, Bella and Stephen Bayliss were discovered and grown up on this team. From zero to hero! Thank you to our boss Alex Bok - he breathed life into the team through his tireless work and belief in Project TBB , Brett Sutton and Jo for the training and mental empowerment you gave a little girl to not only be from may dream of victories, but gets them!
Thanks to my teammates. In many joint camps, we pushed each other to perform better, which made the races easier for us. Unfortunately, after 8 years, the TBB era is coming to an end. But where there is an end, there is always a new beginning.
Everything is going a bit haywire at the moment. We talk a lot about the future. The first decision has been made: In 2015 we will start under Jo Spindler as head coach and new management in new colors. "We" are: Andrej Vistica, Markus Hörmann, Christian Nitschke and me. Our name: teamTripep! Negotiations with sponsors are still in full swing and we're working towards the official team presentation, so I can't reveal much just yet. 😉 But we are all looking forward to the coming season with confidence and enthusiasm. We don't just want to be a team like any other triathlon team. Our goal is to be an incentive for all fans and athletes - whether professional or age grouper - within reach, to take hurdles together, and above all to build a development platform for talented athletes who want to make the leap to the top . For young, unknown athletes like myself five years ago!
