Test: The German car manufacturer with the four rings also has a very sporty model in its range that goes by the name S8 carries. The Swiss cycling shoe manufacturer Suplest even has the addition to the top model of the Road line + donated. We were able to find the Suplest fresh from the market S8 + test.
Suplest is now well known for its unusual and eye-catching shoes with top performance. One almost feels reminded of the soccer World Cup, where the ball kickers are out and about with shoes in all highlighter colors. So our expectations of this shoe were quite high, as if they were world champions.
The design of the suplest S8 is already great; with white as the basic color and light green elements – just something different.
Material
The upper material is synthetic and processed seamlessly - with two small mesh inserts in the toe area. The shoe tongue is perforated to let the foot breathe a little better.
The full carbon sole is protected by white rubber inserts at the back and front. Furthermore, it is equipped with an air channel in the forefoot and midfoot area to cool the shoe even in hot temperatures.
We recently had a few days with over thirty degrees in Germany and were therefore able to test this feature in an emergency. We came to the conclusion that the air circulation in the shoe does not yet work perfectly.
The shoe comes with two top-Rotary fasteners and a Velcro buckle on the forefoot. The twist locks are similar to the well-known Boa system, whereby they can be opened and closed by turning in both directions - very practical.
Process
Getting into the shoe works well because the twist locks can be opened quite wide. The fit is great; When choosing the size, however, it should be considered that the forefoot area is relatively narrow. If in doubt, it is better to take the shoe one size larger.
The shoe sits firmly on the foot and even after the first long ride, no pressure points could be felt or seen on the foot. through the top-Rotary locks, an optimal setting is possible - even while driving, a bit can be readjusted. In addition, Suplest has attached small rubber nubs to the inside of the heel to fix them better. With the right socks from Suplest, nothing can be done here wiggle.
The power transfer to the pedal is also exemplary: the sole is very stiff, as you would expect from a shoe with these demands. So if it's a town sign sprint or a fight real big win doesn't work out - it won't be because of the shoe.
At 510 g in size 41, the pair of shoes is also very light. A top value with this equipment.
Conclusion
The suplest S8 + is of course not a bargain at 298 euros, but with this equipment and performance, this foot flatterer is worth every euro or Swiss franc.
