After a three-week break from racing, we will continue the fight for the German amateur championship next Sunday. On the Schleizer Dreieck in East Thuringia we will meet up with the best amateur teams next Sunday for the sixth race of the German Cycling Cup 2014.
We want to build on the good performances of the first third of the season on the traditional motorsport circuit in Schleiz in eastern Thuringia. So far this year, three wins from five races are on the list of successes of our Merkur Cycling Team. Daniel Knyss most recently won at the Hockenheimring and was in the lead at the Tour d'Energie in the second race of the season in Göttingen. Stefan Räth won the Skoda Velotour in Frankfurt and the Merkur Druck drivers Christian Dengler and Friedrich Schweizer took second place on the day in Cologne and Leipzig.
“A break from racing always harbors the danger of getting out of step. But everyone has trained hard in the meantime and will be in top form at the start in Schleiz.", our team boss Markus Adam is sure. “So far we can all be satisfied with what we have achieved. And I have no doubts that Christine and the boys will not rest on their laurels.”
At the Schleizer Dreieck Everyone we meet a concentrated competition. The course around the motorsport course is considered to be very demanding. The elevation profile of the 123-kilometer loop is tough. A total of around 1.900 meters of altitude difference have to be mastered this year.
