Test: If you buy a new bike, you are particularly careful in the first few weeks. Just no scratches, stone chips or even dents should disfigure the new baby. This is often in the back of your mind, which can also slow down the fun of driving. To counteract this, there is an effective and inexpensive solution: frame protectors.
What is already integrated in many new frames can also be implemented with stickers, such as from Clearprotect.
Practice
Depending on your needs, Clearprotect offers different sticker packages with different numbers of stickers. These are transparent and are intended to protect the frame from dirt and scratches. The extensive sticker package L is recommended for every all-mountain or enduro bike. With one sticker each for the down tube and top tube, two for the chainstays, one for the right pressure strut and a total of seven small stickers that are attached along the cables , you should be able to protect your bike perfectly from scratches.
All this and a small sponge plus instructions are in a small roll - light and handy. All stickers are transparent, so that the beautiful decals on the frame are always visible and you can enjoy the look of the new bike. Before attaching the stickers, you should clean the areas well with the supplied sponge. This ensures that they do not trap dirt and stick to the frame for a long time. The Clearprotect stickers can be easily attached to the desired areas. The material is slightly thicker, but still stretches a little and adapts perfectly to the contours of the tube set.
They also fit snugly to weld seams and do not blister or create gaps. In the case of heavily shaped tube sets, however, it is advisable to cut the stickers slightly so that no wrinkles form. However, this was not necessary for our test object. The angular chainstays and pressure stays can also be easily covered with the stickers intended for this purpose. With anodized frames, however, you should rub the stickers a little harder when attaching them so that they also sit in the fine pores of the anodized metal.
Conclusion
After several rides and a few washes, the Clearprotect stickers are just like on the first day. For 29,90 euros you get an effective alternative to the mostly bulky frame protectors. With the package in size L you can mask all important and vulnerable areas of the bike and protect them from dirt and scratches. Another plus is that the stickers are easy to wash off. Dirt doesn't get stuck here like it does on anodized aluminum.
