Lifestyle: The folding bike world championships took place on Saturday as part of the Velothon Berlin. 128 riders from 32 teams, equipped with dazzling costumes and old folding bikes, fought for the extraordinary title.

The bike was also not allowed to have gears and had to be fitted with 20-inch wheels. These rules should ensure that the conditions prevailing in the 1970s, when folding bikes were at their peak.



Against the backdrop of the Brandenburg Gate, the teams had to complete a 1,8-kilometer circuit, the so-called Merkel diamond, three times. The winning team was determined in the form of a team time trial. The Mad Kingxx team, local heroes from Berlin, finally won the race, which was held in Berlin for the first time, with a winning time of 8 minutes and 19 seconds.
