E-mountain bikes: Haibike Xduro Nduro Pro: Flying low over the trails

2 May 2014 by Rick Schubert

Haibike

E-mobility is currently very popular. The transport system is being revolutionized by the numerous e-bikes, especially in the city. The current market for e-mountain bikes proves that the concept is also popular in the mountain bike sector. The Enduro One series also has its own category for e-bikes in its races.

Haibike has been part of this movement since zero hours and is driving the concept of Xduro Nduro Pro the idea of e-mountain bikes to the extreme.

equipment and practice

The Xduro Nduro Pro is a real eye-catcher. Never before has there been such a bolide from E-Mtb. A full set of tubes, a lot of suspension travel, a gaudy yet beautiful design and a powerful Bosch mid-engine are without a doubt the unique selling points of the bike. In addition to the optics, the equipment also leaves nothing to be desired. The foxes 36 Talas RC2 FIT-Suspension fork and the Fox Float CTD-Damper offers a massive 180 millimeters of travel. This one is provided by Haibikes Sprocket Equalizing System, a four-joint system.

srams XX1 and Mavics Crossmax Endurowheels complete the overall picture. In order to be able to perfectly control the weight of 22,2 kilograms, Avid X0 trail-Brakes installed with 200 or 180 millimeter discs. The Bosch mid-engine offers 25o watts of power and draws its power from a lithium-ion battery with an output of 400 watt hours. The engine supports the driver up to a speed of 30 km/h.

The first impression of the bike is consistently positive. There is still some skepticism about how the bike will fare in the long run. The high weight is only slightly felt on flat terrain, the motor supports the driver depending on the four selectable modes. Just a few meters after the first descent, however, one thing is certain: That Xduro Nduro Pro must be moved quickly. However, given the high weight, the bike is only agile to a limited extent. Winding and narrow trails are therefore only a limited part of the bike's prime discipline.

The geometry and the central and low center of gravity caused by the mid-engine gives the Xduro Nduro Pro a lot of stability, especially at high speeds, and thus safety for the driver. The chassis allows for many adjustment options - you can adjust it perfectly to your own needs. The suspension travel is fully utilized without a feeling of sagging to mediate. The chassis and the Mavic wheels offer maximum traction. Since this is also favored by the high weight, you can step on the pedals with courage.

Accelerating in speed mode is fun, but it also leads to a point of criticism that all e-bikes have in common. The battery life is usually very limited. This is also at Xduro Nduro Pro so. Especially at the highest level, the range dwindles relatively quickly from 25 kilometers when fully charged to 0 when discharged. Although the range is extended depending on the mode selected, who would want to drive at half throttle? A little more power would make the bike even better than it already is.

Conclusion

The Haibike Xduro Nduro Pro is a toy for big children. The beautiful geometry and the high-quality equipment, paired with the powerful mid-engine are especially fun on fast trails. The bike really tempts you to pedal and Gas .
