components: XLC SA-S02 & SL Road: Puristic companions for your tour

There are many different opinions as to what a good saddle-post combination should look like. If comfort is added to appearance, all is well.

The purist SA-S02 from XLC is primarily aimed at friends of radical weight tuning, because at just 98 grams, which our scales showed, the saddle is one of the lightweights in its category. Not only that, he also looks good doing it. The reference to the material used is immortalized on the seat of the glossy lacquered unisex saddle: pure carbon. Its structure is shown below. This is reflected in the struts. XLC does not print a position scale here.

Components

Noble and attractively shaped, the saddle lies in the hand when we assemble it. The assembly itself takes hardly two minutes, which is also due to the extremely easy-to-use clamp of the XLC SL Road seat post is due. This one suits him SA-S02 extremely good and also offers a pleasant flex. It thus supports the damping properties of the saddle. With a length of 278 millimeters and a width of 125 millimeters, it also has sporty dimensions.

Conclusion

The XLC SA-S02 is designed for racing use. Concerns that he might be too hard for that dissipate relatively quickly. In fact, he leaves a pleasant impression at first. It comfortably cushions smaller impacts and does not press on the perineum. He reacts good-naturedly to changes in position. In order for this impression to be maintained, however, you should stand up well during training, because after almost 100 kilometers you finally feel the hardness of the material used. However, if you like to sit longer in the saddle, we recommend good padding in your pants. Then he is SA-S02, whose price is just under 170 euros, is a faithful companion even on longer journeys.
