cycling: Association lifts disqualification for Till Schramm

11 April 2014 by the editorial office

The North Rhine-Westphalian Triathlon Association has the disqualification by the Cologne triathlon professional Till Schramm at the Cologne Triathlon Weekend 2013. Both the association court and the executive committee of the association came to the conclusion that this cannot legally exist. The 29-year-old successfully took action against the disallowance of his second place due to an allegedly illegal driving maneuver on the bike course at the Cologne Triathlon on September 1, 2013.

"I've never fought anything legally. But in this case I felt that I was being treated so unfairly that a decision by the responsible association bodies seemed unavoidable to me.", emphasizes Schramm. "I'm very happy about the decision, even if it doesn't bring back the joy I lost about this great race and is only a consolation for the slovenly behavior of some fellow athletes after the race. It has now finally been clarified that I am entitled to second place, that I can rightly claim the time of 8 hours and 23 minutes as my personal best and, of course, that I am also entitled to the prize money that I deserve. I can now finally fully concentrate on the next races again!”
