The Swiss Mathias Frank celebrated his first victory for Team IAM. At the Col de l'Ospedale, where the Critérium International traditionally ends, he prevailed against Frenchman Jean-Christoph Peraud and Portuguese NetApp Endura pro Tiago Machado. In the last kilometer, Frank and Peraud broke away from a strong leading group.
However, Peraud secured the general classification thanks to a better result in yesterday's time trial. Frank took second place in this ranking, ahead of Machado.
As expected, the leaders of the opening day, Nacer Bouhanni (FDJ.fr) and Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Shimano) had nothing to do with the end of the stage.
