cycling: Dominik Nerz becomes captain at Bora-Argon18

Cycling: As Team NetApp-Endura announced today, Dominik Nerz from the Allgäu has signed a two-year contract. The racing team, which will operate under the name Bora-Argon18 in the coming year, trusts in the tour qualities of the 25-year-old.

Nerz, who started his career with Team Milram, has raced for Teams Liquigas and BMC for the past four years. Now he is returning to a German team. The team has given him the role of captain in major tours - a sign that the Czech Leopold König will probably leave the team.

"I see a huge opportunity for me in the new team", so mink in a message from the team. “I'm given the confidence to reach my full potential and to captain the Grand Tours. In addition, I can implement this in a German team. There is something very special about being part of this realignment from the start and continuing to grow with the team. The interest in cycling in Germany is back and with this team we are now making exactly the right step forward. I am already looking forward to being a part of this development.”

Team manager Ralph Denk added: “In Dominik we have won the ideal candidate for our new team. He is the best German tour driver, has the most successful years ahead of him and is ready for a leading position. It perfectly meets our requirements. With us in the team he will have a demanding racing calendar and the necessary team support to prove himself as a captain. I'm confident that Germany will soon not only be happy about its successful sprinters and time trialists, but also about successes in the rankings. Because the goal is clear: Dominik is a candidate for the top 10 of a Grand Tour.”

Mink finished yesterday's Vuelta a Espana in 18th place overall after having assisted his captain Samuel Sanchez for the past three weeks.
