The third day of the Tour Méditerranéen was characterized by two stages. In the morning, John Degenkolb (Giant-Shimano) was able to celebrate a hat-trick. After 63 hectic kilometers he was faster than the Italian Sonny Colbrelli (Bardiani-CSF) and the Norwegian Thor Hushovd (BMC) in the mass sprint. Like the day before, the escapees had no chance this time either.
In the afternoon, an individual time trial over 18 kilometers was on the agenda. Stephen Cummings (BMC) posted the best time here. The Briton, who attracted attention a few days ago with a second place at the Dubai Tour, relegated the Austrian Riccardo Zoidl (Trek Factory Racing) to second place by four seconds. French time trial champion Sylvain Chavanel (IAM) finished third, ten seconds behind.
