Clothing: Shimano Breath Hyper: function rethought

February 24rd 2014 by the editorial office

The Japanese component manufacturer Shimano is known for innovation. It is often overlooked that the inventors from Sakai not only deal with shifting components, but also provide their clothing line with innovations. In the case of the brand new base layer collection Breath Hyper This may seem plausible at first because of the area of application, but it is by no means comprehensible. Because with Breath Hyper the Japanese are launching a material that is going its own way when it comes to functional underwear.

equipment and practice

The Shimano Breath Hyper Undershirt is from the one developed by the Japanese themselves Breath Hyper-Functional fabric manufactured. This consists of 66 percent polypropylene, 12 percent each of polyester and viscose, and 10 percent polyamide. The special thing about this breathable material mix is that it warms the upper body by converting the absorbed sweat into warmth. This also works very well in practice. Although the soft undershirt makes a very absorbent first impression, you hardly feel it on the skin when in use. During intense exertion, a pleasantly warm feeling spreads. Anyone who thinks that the wet shirt offers a target for the cold wind is mistaken.

The optimized cut of the undershirt, which has a small collar at the neck and is cut a little wider at the back to protect the kidneys, is also pleasant. On the other hand, it closes tightly on the stomach and thus leaves a good figure even under the racing clothes. We found the sleeves to be a bit tight compared to the more flexible panels of fabric on the upper body. Riders with very muscular arms might have some problems here.

This can also be done after use Breath Hyper-Undershirt score. Despite repeated washing, there hasn't been an unpleasant odor that is otherwise associated with functional underwear.

Conclusion

Shimano has with the Breath Hyper-Undershirt has embarked on a completely new path and can proudly walk this path too. Although the bodice looks a bit tight when you put it on for the first time, it is optimized for use and shows its strengths there. The more you sweat, the more comfortable it is to wear.
