After the UCI World Cup, races with HC status are among the most important and most important events in the racing circuit. Now the cycling umbrella organization UCI awarded exactly this status to the final of the KMC MTB Bundesliga in Bad Salzdetfurth.
Since 2006, the brine town on the edge of the Harz Mountains has been an integral part of the national XC calendar. Bad Saldzdetfurth hosted the German Championships twice, in 2010 and 2013, and the national Bundesliga series was hosted six times in the town with the beautiful half-timbered backdrop. The feedback was also consistently positive. Drivers as well as spectators enjoyed the great atmosphere every year. In 2011, for example, Olympic champion and record world champion Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesjaa (Multivan-Merida) from Norway spoke of “a great atmosphere” and "a fun course".
"Of course we are very pleased that the German Cyclists' Association supports our application and that the UCI has awarded us this status. This means a further increase in attractiveness and motivates us to further expand the event.”, according to the organizers.
The big advantage of the upgrade are the world ranking points to be collected. If there were 1 points for victory in a C60 category race, the winner now receives 90 points. Furthermore, the prize money of the respective event will be increased. Almost 10.000 euros in prize money will be awarded in Bad Salzdetfurth.
"That attracts top international people and helps the entire German mountain bike scene.", says Salscheider, organizer of the World Cup in Albstadt.
