Cycling: The international KMC MTB Bundesliga is starting the 2015 season with six events. Two races in the HC category and two newcomers are part of the German series, which will kick off in Bad Säckingen in six months.
The 15th edition of the classic BiketheRock in Heubach and Bad Salzdetfurth form the outstanding pillars of the series. Not only have they been part of the series in Germany for the longest time, but both are also registered in the Hors Class category by the UCI, the world cycling association. BiketheRock has been part of the series since 2003, Bad Salzdetfurth since 2006 - with an interruption due to the German Championships being held twice. A race in the UCI Junior Series will also be held in Heubach next year.
The Bosch Gold Trophy Sabine Spitz in Bad Säckingen is part of the series for the second time. However, additional experience was also gained on the High Rhine in 2012 and 2014 with the organization of the German Championships.
The Wheelsports Race in Schopp celebrated a comeback in the international series this year and will remain on the ball in 2015.
Completely new in the league are Titisee-Neustadt in the Black Forest and Wombach in Lower Franconia. In Titisee-Neustadt they already have a lot of experience with top-class sporting events. The Ski Jumping World Cup last guested last December. Exactly there, on the Hochfirst-Schanze, where human flying objects glide down to 140 meters and more in winter, the RSV Hochschwarzwald has also organized a small but much praised mountain bike race for the last seven years.
In July 2015, with the fifth round of the KMC MTB Bundesliga, things will be one or two sizes bigger. By the way: For Simon Stiebjahn, overall winner of the KMC Bundesliga 2014, the races there will be a home game. Stiebjahn comes from Titisee-Neustadt.
The RV Viktoria Wombach also has local greats to offer. Markus Bauer, who is second overall in the Bundesliga and third in the German Championships, comes from the cycling club in the district of Lohr am Main, as well as two national junior riders, Max Brandl and Robin Hofmann.
In Wombach, there have already been a number of races in the BDR's youth screening series, and a round for the U17 and U15 bikers will also be included in the Bundesliga premiere at the end of April. The following year, the German championship takes place in Wombach.
“We are pleased to be able to increase the number of events from four this year to six in 2015. I think we can offer a strong KMC Bundesliga series next year. Thanks to our partner KMC and the organizers, especially the two new ones, for making this possible for us.", says Udo Sprenger, Vice-President of the Federation of German Cyclists (BDR).
