The question of whether Enduro belongs in the hands of the UCI was already raised at the beginning of 2012 – the start of the big Enduro hype. Many agreed that the UCI would destroy the spirit and lifestyle of the sport with an absurd set of rules. But in order to be able to hold national and international championships, there is no getting around the cycling umbrella organization.
On November 01.11.2013st, XNUMX, the first official enduro regulations were presented by the UCI (source: UCI regulations):
The race contains several connection stages and special stages. The determined times of all special stages are added to a total time.
An enduro track includes a variety of off-road terrain: the track should be a mix of narrow and wide, slow and fast paths and trails, over a variety of terrain. Each special stage should be predominantly downhill, with short pedaling and uphill passages being acceptable.
Liaison stages may include mechanical uphill transportation, self-powered transportation, or a mixture of both. The focus of the route should be on the participant's fun, technical and physical ability.
Any other system is acceptable in exceptional circumstances and subject to prior consultation and agreement with the UCI.
