The old master can still do it: Karl Platt is crowned UCI Masters World Champion

September 28, 2021 by the editorial office

Cycling: Actually, 43-year-old Karl Platt, the marathon veteran of Team BULLS, had given up his active racing career in 2020 and wanted to throw himself into his new role as Bulls brand ambassador. But racing won't let him go completely. Now he crowned his extraordinary career as UCI Masters world champion in the marathon.

With a total of two German marathon titles, five overall victories at the Cape Epic and 7 overall victories at the Transalp counts Karl Platt one of the most successful German mountain bikers. His unparalleled career is closely tied to Bulls. He is not only considered the initiator of "Team BULLS" (2007), but has also been significantly involved in the development of bikes and e-bikes from the Cologne manufacturer for years.

In 2020, Karl actually wanted to end his successful career with a last start at "his" Cape Epic. But the stage race was canceled at short notice due to the corona pandemic. Retirement? Not for Karl! He remained in the racing action in the Masters class and was able to achieve further notable successes: First place in the Masters at the Swiss Epic, first place in the Masters at the Andorra MTB Classic ...

Finally UCI World Champion

Karl was able to bring in the (for the time being) crowning glory of his impressive career on September 25, 2021 at the UCI Masters Mountain Bike Marathon Championships in Ciocco, Italy. With a victory on the 64 km and 2.600 meters of demanding route, Karl Platt was able to become world champion and secure the coveted "rainbow jersey".

Great Carl! We congratulate you on your impressive achievement and an unprecedented career!
