Last weekend the entire livewelt test team was at the Nürburgring "Rad am Ring" in action. Three races were on our schedule in the Eifel: 75 kilometers, 150 kilometers and of course the iconic but also extremely physically demanding 24-hour race.
How to get it from "Rad am Ring" knows, everything was super organized. The atmosphere that would await us during the races could be felt as soon as we entered the site. The whole Grand Prix track was once again a unique campsite where the German amateur scene had a friendly get-together.
On the 75-kilometer lap, Tim Take, Matthias Maxa, Cosima Henrichs, Stefan and Thomas Frost as well as Patrick and Pascal Hanhart had to overcome 1500 meters of altitude on the demanding and legendary Nordschleife. The organizers had organized everything very well for this. After we lined up at the start, "listened" some of us to the quite heating up music. Others, meanwhile, discussed race tactics with drivers from friendly teams Moskovskaya and Drinkuth.
Right from the start we set a very high pace together with the Drinkuth team. Everyone tried to take the best possible position in the field up to the first climb. After the legendary Fuchsrohr had been driven through at a speed of over 90 kilometers per hour, the race-decisive attack began. Jonas Leefmann kept the pace so high that no one could follow him and began his solo journey to victory.
Behind them, a group of 14 riders formed in which we were represented by Patrick, Pascal and Tim. Due to the consistently high pace, there were no further attacks. In the sprint for second place, Patrick proved once again that he has a high level of speed and confidently secured his place on the podium. Thanks to the further good placements, we managed to win the team classification.
In the race over 150 kilometers we were not so lucky. After all, things can't always go according to plan. The next race will definitely come and then it will be better again. Speaking of working out, the weather at the start of the event was still on its friendly side, but the participants in the 24-hour race were less fortunate. Heavy rain during the night even led to the race being stopped at times. It had become too dangerous on the track at that time. Fewer teams tackled the restart accordingly. In the end, we got an excellent third place in the team classification.
On that note, until the days!
