Haibike has with the "Affair RX" a model in the program that attracted attention when it was introduced three years ago. Since then, the bike, which has been rigorously trimmed for comfort, has been continuously optimized. In addition to the driving stability, this is particularly evident in the geometry of the bike. With a frame height of 56, this has a seat tube angle of 74 degrees and a head tube angle of 73 degrees. Haibike tries to keep the bike agile, but also smooth-running and comfortable.
# The current Sram Red gives the wheel a subtle professional touch.
For the 2013 season, the people of Schweinfurt have the top version of the "Affair RX" with the current Sram red fitted. However, this only catches the eye at second glance. The reason for this is the striking color scheme. While some of the lettering nestles discreetly against the black frame, some ornaments in salmon-colored orange stand out conspicuously. The frame itself is aerodynamically shaped and goes hand in hand with the look of the Reynolds "Assault" carbon wheels.
# Visually, the "Affair RX" is an eye-catcher, where the attachment parts have also been fitted into the concept.
Haibike relies on in-house parts for the front and the seat post. In addition to a 42 centimeter wide ergo-carbon handlebar, there is also a 100 millimeter long lightweight aluminum stem. For driving comfort, in the area of "Concor"-saddle from Selle San Marco also features the 27,2 millimeter carbon flex post.
# The bottom bracket area is stiff and guarantees powerful acceleration.
The total weight of the almost 5300 euros expensive "Affair RX" amounts to a slim 6,5 kilograms. The bike cuts a good figure uphill. It is agile and leaves a positive impression in curves. Thanks to the compact version of the Red, which offers a transmission from 50 to 34 teeth at the front and a cassette with 11 to 28 teeth at the rear, you are well prepared for the gradients.
Driving stability is even clearer going downhill. Good-naturedly, the bike keeps the chosen line even at higher speeds and inspires a lot of trust. In addition, the built-in red-Stopper can be dosed well and Michelins "Per 4" provide the necessary grip. The chase towards the valley leaves feelings of happiness. These are also found in the flatter pedaling passages. The relatively stiff bottom bracket area is particularly noticeable here. Change of pace does that "Affair RX" although willingly, the last kick is missing a bit. However, this is not due to the elegantly shaped frame, but rather to the Reynolds "Assault" attributed, which react somewhat sluggishly when stepping out of the saddle.
# The “Affair RX” is good-natured and agile uphill.
On the other hand, they convince in terms of comfort and underline the concept specified by Haibike for the frame set. Both the front and the rear absorb bumps in the asphalt. The seat post also offers good flex. In conjunction with the half-upright, half-sporty seating position, the people from Schweinfurt have succeeded in bridging the gap between balance and agility.
# The very well equipped Haibike Affair RX definitely brings color into play and proves to be a real all-rounder with a guaranteed fun factor - and certainly not only in winter.
