Test: As the name suggests, the KTM Floor Pump High Pressure is a pump that was specially designed for high pressures. So if you mainly ride a racing bike or a crosser and consequently drive your tires with a lot of pressure, you should think about purchasing such a special pump.
Visually, the KTM High Pressure stands out with its simple, almost minimalist design. The combination of the polished black air piston made of aluminum and the shiny silver base looks high-quality and elegant. Only the plastic handle with its rubber inserts falls off a little here. The pressure gauge has a decent size and is very easy to read thanks to the large numbers and good contrast.
KTM goes its own way with the pump head: In contrast to many of its competitors, the Austrians rely on a conventional pump head with an aluminum insert that has to be turned around for different valves. We like this almost classic solution because it keeps the pump head compact and easy to handle. In addition, the connection piece is excellently processed, seals very well and can be operated with little force.
When pumping, we are particularly surprised by the bombproof stand of the minimalist base. Nubs on the bottom and coated inserts on the top effectively prevent the pump from slipping underfoot. The KTM pump also knows how to impress when it comes to pumping performance: In its special field of racing bike tires, it does not show any weaknesses, it pressurizes the inner tube very quickly and without great effort. Unsurprisingly, the pump and the end of the pump work up quite a sweat with thick studded tires – but the KTM High Pressure is not designed for that either.
