First aid kit tested: Ortovox First Aid Roll Doc Mid

First aid set Ortovox First Aid Roll Doc Mid in the test

The Ortovox First Aid Roll Doc Mid is one of two test candidates in a roll design. The First aid kit is quite compact and its features are rather slim, which makes it a small, light companion on all kinds of everyday trips. If you would like more or less content, you will find a smaller and a larger version at Ortvox. The manufacturer has produced the set sustainably and says it uses environmentally friendly production methods. The bag comes with a belt loop and is water-repellent. The workmanship quality makes a good impression.

Handling & inner workings

The first aid kit is simply rolled up and you have access to all four inside pockets via a full-length zipper. The utensils are stored here thematically sorted; the contents are partly written on the bags. In addition, first aid measures are printed here. Unfortunately, the inside pockets do not have any viewing windows and it is questionable whether you would be able to read them in the hustle and bustle of an emergency. It's a good idea to look in your pockets every now and then so you know what's where. Otherwise, handling is extremely easy thanks to the practical system - only the fourth inner pocket with the wound care is a bit full and therefore fiddly. If you want, you can of course distribute the content differently.

The equipment

The Ortovox First Aid Roll Doc Mid comes with the following features:

  • 1 x Emergency Card
  • 1 x Rescue Blanket
  • 1 x Triangle Cloth
  • 1 x Disposable Vinyl Gloves
  • 1 * Scissors
  • 1 x adhesive plaster spool 5 m x 2,5 cm
  • 1 x bandage pack
  • 1 x Wound Dressing
  • 1 x fixing bandage 4m x 6cm
  • 4 x plaster strips 2,5 x 7,2 cm
  • 2 x plaster strips 1,9 x 7,2 cm
  • 3 x fingertip bandage 4,4 x 7,6 cm

The Roll Doc's equipment covers small wounds comprehensively, and you are also equipped for larger wounds. Overall, the equipment is limited to the basic elements. This makes the first aid set ideal for home trails, smaller day tours and the like. Ortovox actually comes from the winter sports sector - but the set is still ideal for bikers. The inside pockets still offer some space for individual additions; This allows you to create a perfectly coordinated set. The quality of the equipment makes a good impression, except for the scissors.

The Ortovox First Aid Roll Doc Mid comes into the home as a sensibly designed first aid kit. It is suitable for bikers of all disciplines who do their home rides or smaller day tours not too far from civilization. The equipment is very good, but with the competition you sometimes get a lot more for less money. The Roll Doc is also a good basis for individual additions. With the exception of the small limitations mentioned, the handling works well and is uncomplicated.
