Cateye Rapid Micro G: The light and compact rear light is equipped with two LEDs and boasts simplicity and an affordable price. You can find out how the LED rear light performed in our detailed test here.
The StVZO-compliant Rapid Micro G LED rear light from Cateye is very compact and, at 27,3 grams including the holder, still light. With two LEDs that light up continuously in one possible mode, the rear light is very simple. It does not have any additional features such as brake light function or different modes. But the Rapid Micro G is the only battery-powered rear light in the test that can be attached both vertically and horizontally. This is made possible by the fact that the rear light can be removed from the holder using a click system. This is also very practical if you want to remove the lamp to charge it; This means that the holder can always remain on the seat post and you don't have to reinstall the rear light every time.

Our test impression of the Cateye Rapid Micro G
packaging and assembly
The Rapid Micro G rear light comes in a very large cardboard packaging, which is only made of plastic on the suspension. Could be packaged much smaller for our taste as the lamp and accessories are rather small.
The Cateye rear light is mounted with a simple rubber ring. The mount also has a small rubber pad attached to the back to make it easier to adjust to the seat post. However, the rubber pad is not permanently installed and can fall out during assembly. We really liked the fact that you can remove the rear light from the holder with a click system, for example for charging. This means that the bracket can always remain on the seat post and the rear light does not always have to be reinstalled. In addition, the lamp can be inserted horizontally and vertically into the holder as required.
Operation and battery life
The operation of the Cateye Micro Rapid G is very simple and intuitive. With a slightly longer click on the on/off button you can switch the lamp on and off again. Since there are no different modes, there is no need for any additional controls or complicated button combinations.
The two LEDs then light up for up to five hours per battery charge - should be sufficient for most bike tours. The lamp can then be recharged in two hours using the included micro-USB cable.
The side visibility of the Cateye Rapid Micro G is fine for me at 180 degrees and the weight of 27,3 grams is rather light for a battery-powered rear light. The price is fair with an RRP of 22,95 euros. All in all, a very simple, no-frills battery-operated rear light that absolutely fulfills its function.
