Kettler e-bikes 2024: Pinniato and PiCargo – new models with Pinion MGU

July 5, 2023 by Michael Faiss

Product News / E-Bike: The Pinion MGU drive unit dominates the new Kettler E-Bikes 2024. The new Kettler Pinniato, which will be available as a fully, hardtail and S-Pedelec, is equipped with it. With the PiCargo, Kettler is also planning a full-fledged Long John cargo bike with a Pinion drive for the coming year.

As one of nine manufacturers, Kettler is already starting the 2024 season with e-bikes with the new Pinion MGU. The drive unit presented at the last Eurobike combines a powerful central motor with a wear-free and almost maintenance-free gear shift. According to Pinion, an oil change (which you can do yourself) every 10.000 km is sufficient - no further maintenance work is necessary, and the entire system is virtually wear-free. Especially in combination with a belt drive, you come very close to the dream of an ultimate carefree e-bike.

The technical data show that the new drive is also technically up to date: With an average torque of 85 Nm, it is just as powerful as comparable mid-mounted motors from Bosch, Brose or Shimano. With a bandwidth of 600% in the 12-speed version, the circuit is even ahead of the competition. Neither conventional derailleur nor hub gears can keep up here.

A new name has been added to the Kettler E-Bikes 2024 for the new drive system – Pinniato. Located in the touring and everyday areas, the new bike is available in different versions. In addition to a full-suspension version for those who love comfort, it is also available as a sporty hardtail and as an S-Pedelec.

Kettler Pinniato FS

Bike category: SUV electric bike
Frame material: Aluminium
Suspension travel: 120mm/100mm
wheel size: 29 inch
Frame Shapes: Diamond / step-through

With the Kettler Pinniato FS, SUV fans get an exciting model with Pinion MGU drive for 2024. With 120 mm of spring travel at the front and 100 mm at the rear, you can pull the rug out of bad bike paths and even short trips on forest roads and forest highways are absolutely within the range of the possible. The well-profiled tires from Schwalbe also speak for this and there is even a retractable seat post on board. Beautiful: The Kettler Pinniato FS Sport is also available as a low step-through model.

The already very robust carbon belt is additionally protected.
The optically very well hidden rear end provides 100 mm of travel.
With a 1,8 inch fork crown, the Kettler Pinniato FS should also be very stiff at the head tube.
The large 960 Wh battery sticks out a little from the down tube.

Both in everyday life and on tour, you can also look forward to the MonkeyLoad luggage rack and full equipment including bright 100 lux headlights. With a maximum permissible total weight of 145 kg, even heavy drivers can still take a lot of luggage with them.

The Pinniato FS will be available in two versions: In addition to the “normal” sports version, the bike is also available as an S-Pedelec up to 45 km/h. In addition to the 12-speed Pinion MGU, both variants only use the large 960 Wh battery in the down tube. Long-distance fans should also be happy to note that the Kettler Pinniato FS is prepared for the range extender, which brings an additional 535 Wh.

Kettler Pinniato HT

Bike category: SUV hardtail e-bike
Frame material: Aluminium
Suspension travel: 100 mm
wheel size: 29 inch
Frame Shapes: Diamond / step-through

Like all models, the Pinniato HT is also available as a step-through model.

If you can do without the suspension on the rear wheel, you might want to take a closer look at the Pinniato HT: Here, too, there are the well-known features of the fullys - 100 mm spring travel, full-size MTB tires and high payload. Just without the damper on the rear triangle. Nevertheless, short off-road excursions are always possible here, thanks to the dropper post and powerful Magura brakes with 4-pistons at the front.

The belt box is painted in frame color.
Nice: A retractable seat post is included in all variants.
Also on board as standard: An adjustable stem for fine-tuning the seating position.
Displays and batteries come from FIT.

The Kettler Pinniato HT will come onto the market in a total of three model variants. In addition to the top model Pinniato HT Sport, there is also a cheaper HT Comfort version and an S-Pedelec is also part of the portfolio. While the latter is only delivered with a large 960 Wh battery, the cheaper Pinniato HT Comfort is only available with 720 Wh. In the sports variant, the battery capacity is left to the buyer - at "only" 200 euros extra, however, the long-range, large energy storage device is likely to be the more attractive one be choice. If that is still not enough, you can also use the range extender with a further 535 Wh capacity.

All equipment variants of the Kettler Pinniato HT are – like the fully – available either with a classic diamond frame or as a step-through frame.

Kettler PicCargo

There is not quite as much information about the new cargo bike with Pinion MGU. So far, however, we know that the bike presented as a concept at the Eurobike will come as a hardtail and as a full-suspension variant and, like the well-known Cargoline, will also be equipped with an Ackermann steering. There will be different options for the bodies, including an EPP box with a hood.

The bike is expected to be officially presented in autumn of this year, and the new Pinion Cargobike should also be available from specialist retailers from 2024. We are excited!
