Product News / E-Bike: For the coming season, the traditional Austrian manufacturer KTM is fully committed to the new, lightweight Bosch SX drive. While the previous, very large e-bike portfolio will largely remain the same, almost 20 new models will be added, almost all of which are in the weight range below 20 kg. Remarkable: Unlike many other manufacturers, the company does not concentrate exclusively on the sporty area, but also makes everyday bikes and even children's e-bikes. We give an overview of the KTM e-bikes 2024.
KTM e-bikes 2024: 17 lightweight e-bikes with Bosch SX motors
For the coming season, KTM is launching a real light e-bike offensive: Light variants with the new Bosch SX motor are now supplementing the existing portfolio in almost every area. These include e-mountain bikes, fully or hardtail, trekking and touring bikes, children's bikes and also gravel or racing bikes.
[blog specific=“176141″]All new light e-bikes rely on the combination of the 2 kg light and 55 Nm powerful Bosch SX motor and the new PowerTube 400 battery with 400 Wh capacity. With the exception of the Mini Me children's e-MTB, the energy storage can also be removed from all bikes - conveniently upwards out of the down tube, as has already been seen on other e-bikes from KTM in the past.

KTM Macina Scarp SX
For a number of years, the name Scarp has stood for full-suspension race MTBs in the KTM portfolio. In this respect, it is somewhat surprising that the Macina Scarp SX now comes with 140 mm of travel, which is quite ample for this bike class. The new Light E-MTB wants to bridge the gap between a racing file for marathon and XC use and a fun trail bike.
All three equipment variants have their full carbon frame in common, which brings the well-known battery removal from the down tube upwards and is also unique in terms of mounting points: In addition to the optional PowerMore 250 Range Extender, two more drinking bottles can be mounted, one of them under the down tube.
The weight of the new KTM Macina Scarp SX is quite impressive: the top model weighs just 16,5 kg and even the comparatively inexpensive entry-level model remains under 20 kg.

KTM Macina Race SX
Of course, with such an extensive range of light e-bikes, a classic e-hardtail should not be missing. It's called the Macina Race SX and is clearly more tour-oriented than its full-suspension counterpart, the Macina Scarp. The aluminum frame is combined with a suspension fork with 100 mm travel and has a rather relaxed geometry. In this respect, it is not surprising that all the mounting points for fenders, for example, are available here. If you don't want to do this yourself, you can also use the LFC version, which is suitable for everyday use.
The KTM Macina Race SX will also appear in three trim levels. In addition to two more sporty versions, the LFC model in particular should be of interest to many, as it combines the suitability for everyday use of a trekking bike with a good dose of off-road mobility. Given the extensive equipment, it is not surprising that it is the heaviest Macina Race model at over 21 kg.

KTM Macina Cross SX
With the Macina Cross SX, KTM serves a bicycle segment that many other manufacturers have now almost forgotten - the cross bike. Somewhere in the field of tension between MTB hardtail and trekking bike, with narrow but off-road tires and a suspension fork, excursions on forest roads are definitely possible and the weight is significantly lower than with a classic hardtail. Overall, the Cross SX models are aimed at a sporty target group that can do without attachments such as mudguards or luggage racks. If you are looking for more suitability for everyday use, you will find what you are looking for in the Macina Sport SX series.
The Macina Cross SX comes in two quite different equipment variants: while the Cross SX Elite with its carbon frame should be of particular interest to those who value particularly low weight, the Cross SX 20 could be a tip for those looking for bargain hunters be after a lightweight e-bike. Both models are available with both a classic men's frame and a trapeze frame.

KTM Macina Sport SX
The Macina Sport is perhaps the quiet highlight among the new light e-bikes from KTM. A light e-trekking bike, optionally with a carbon frame and in the (expensive) top version weighing less than 17 kg - despite being fully equipped. There are hardly any similar bikes on the market to date and could be of particular interest to those who are looking for a high-quality everyday companion or a light e-bike for commuting. The only thing that is a bit disappointing is the very low permissible total weight of only 121 kg for the two versions with carbon frames.
Of the four equipment variants, two each come with an aluminum frame and two with a carbon frame. The price jump to the top model Macina Sport SX Prime is huge at almost 4.000 euros compared to the SX Elite and the noble model should really only play a role for those who are looking for a maximum of low weight. For everyone else, the other models should be more interesting, especially since the weight remains absolutely within limits. Speaking of frames: the two carbon models are available with diamond and trapezoidal frames, the versions with aluminum frames are also available as step-through models.

KTM Macina Gravelator SX
With the Macina Gravelator, KTM is also presenting the first e-gravel bike in the company's history for 2024. The sporty companion for gravel fans comes in one version each with a carbon and aluminum frame - naturally with the Gravel-specific support level Sprint and the new Mini Remote especially for racing handlebars. In view of the optimized decoupling of the drive, it offers hardly any noticeable pedaling resistance even at speeds of over 25 km/h.
Both available Macina Gravelator models are in the higher price segment and come with the appropriate equipment. The weight also remains correspondingly low: almost 14 kg for the top model and still a very good 15,6 kg for the slightly cheaper version with an aluminum frame. Incidentally, the latter also comes with mounting points for mudguards - ideal as a basis for a sporty touring or commuting bike. As with the trekking bikes, however, you should also keep an eye on the maximum permissible total weight, which is only 109 kg for the SX Prime and 10 kg for the SX 117.

KTM Macina Revelator SX
Anyone who prefers to ride on paved roads with the racing handlebars, but does not want to do without the support of a light motor, will now also find a genuine e-racing bike in the program of the traditional Austrian manufacturer with the Macina Revelator SX. The bike, which weighs just over 13 kg, is only available in one equipment variant and exclusively with a carbon frame. In view of the comparatively small target group, this is an understandable decision.

KTM Macina Mini Me SX
With the Mini Me, KTM was one of the first manufacturers to introduce an e-bike for children in 2015. The concept has polarized people to this day, but children's bikes with motor assistance are becoming increasingly popular, especially for rental, and numerous other manufacturers offer corresponding bikes. However, almost all of them have one problem in common: the high weight caused by the "full-grown" drives is quite difficult for the kids, especially when you're not sitting on the bike. This is where the new lightweight Bosch system, which makes the new Mini Me SX models possible, can help. By firmly integrating the 400 Wh battery in the down tube, the weight could be further optimized, but unfortunately the bike then has to be close to a power source for charging.
The new KTM Mini Me SX will be available in a variant with 24 inch and one with 26 inch wheels. With a weight of almost 17 kg, it is significantly lighter than its predecessor and is one of the lightest children's e-bikes on the market.
