M1 Vipiteno GT S-Pedelec: The carbon pioneer M1-Sporttechnik specializes in top-class e-bikes and makes no compromises when it comes to technology and equipment. This also applies to the S-Pedelec Vipiteno GT, which promises unimagined riding fun in city traffic with its extremely high torque and large battery. Try it out – Velomotion is giving away a copy of the carbon superbike.
Carbon is, so to speak, in the DNA of M1 sports technology. Almost 30 years ago, the company from Großhelfendorf near Munich manufactured its first carbon monocoque frame - at a time when many bike manufacturers were still experimenting with tube-to-tube or lugged adhesive connections. And that wasn't even the beginning: The Fritzmeier Group, to which M1 belongs, manufactured the first plastic skis and surfboards as early as the 1970s. The innovative bicycle brand M1-Sporttechnik finally came about from dealing with composite materials.
And something else distinguishes the company: M1 is completely dedicated to the premium segment; There are no compromises in favor of the price here. In addition to the super-light frame, components and attachments are also top-notch, and M1 relies on what is probably the most powerful motor on the market - the TQ HPR 120S with an extreme 120 Nm torque, powered by durable batteries with either 880 or 1.050 watt hours of capacity. Off-road, so much power ensures propulsion on the steepest climbs - only the traction has to be right. On the road, on the other hand, conventional e-bikes with the TQ are almost overpowered, because the control range of 25 km/h is reached in a matter of seconds. Which makes it clear where this motor has its place: on the S-Pedelec, which is legally classified as a moped up to 45 km/h and can therefore go as fast as a 50cc scooter.

S-Pedelecs, also known as fast e-bikes, are ideal for swimming along in motorized city traffic - especially if they have a torque à la M1. By the time faster vehicles have caught up, you'll be rolling out before the next red traffic light. Many drivers on four or two wheels might rub their eyes in amazement when the M1 Sterzing GT marches off; meanwhile, its driver enjoys a rocket-like feeling of acceleration, coupled with a high level of driving comfort. The Fox 34 Float at the front can be tuned softly, and even if the carbon frame is very laterally stiff, the omission of the seat tube brings a great deal of vertical flexibility. The 2,8-inch wide Schwalbe Super Moto have the format of a motorcycle and offer optimum road grip and good cushioning on the straight and at an angle. M1 relies on a lightweight 27,5-inch wheelset from DT Swiss that encourages a manageable ride.

In this set-up, the M1 is ideal for quick commutes and sporty tours. Of course, one must not forget that the S-Pedelec as a motor vehicle is limited to public roads - cycle paths and the like are taboo, and anyone who sees the traffic sign 260 - ban on motor vehicles of all kinds - must unfortunately feel addressed.
Wherever it is allowed, the M1 Sterzing GT ensures incomparable driving pleasure. If you want to experience it, all you have to do is answer the Velomotion prize question correctly (see below) and be lucky - maybe you'll soon be going full throttle through the city.
