Cycling: a bang at the Tour de France. For the first time in its 121-year history, the Tour of France will not end in Paris, but in Nice. An individual time trial will then be held there. So no strolling stage, but excitement up to the last meter!

Tour de France 2024: Nice instead of Paris
On Thursday afternoon, the time had come: the Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) confirmed the rumors and announced that the 2024 Tour de France will not end in Paris for the first time. Instead, the finale is to be held in Nice - and that too with an individual time trial. In recent years, the Tour of France has always ended with a stroll to Paris. Then there was a sprint for the day's win, but nothing more happened in the overall standings. Most recently, in 2005, Alexandre Vinokourov managed to prevent the mass sprint with a surprising advance. He also moved up one place in the overall standings.
Paris is hosting the 2024 Olympic Games
The tour organization actually expected Paris to be the destination of the last stage in 2024. But since the Olympic Games will be held in Paris in the same year, the plans are now being changed. The 2024 Olympic Games will start on July 26th, shortly after the end of the 2024 Tour de France, so we can look forward to an exciting finale. The Tour of France last ended in 1989 with a time trial. The duel between Greg Lemond and Laurent Fignon went down in history. A mere eight seconds was supposed to decide who won the tour.
