The final act of the 107th Tour de France

The 2020 Tour de France is over. Today, the 146 professionals remaining in the race had to cover another 122,0 kilometers after the start in Mantes-la-Jolie. Before eight laps had to be driven on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, the peloton was allowed to celebrate itself. After a glass or two of sparkling wine, numerous photos and many happy faces, the actual race started around 70,0 kilometers from the finish line. A quartet consisting of Maximilian schachmann (Bora – hansgrohe), greg van avermaet (CCC), Connor Swift (Arkéa – Samsic) and Pierre-Luc Perichon (Cofidis), kept the sprinter teams on their toes.

Sam Bennett confidently wins the mass sprint

As expected, the four escapees were caught a few kilometers before. The mass sprint was again prepared in an exemplary manner by Team Sunweb, but sprinters Cees Bol just lack the experience. Quite different in Team Deceuninck – Quick-Step. Michael Morkov drove his man in green, Sam Bennett, perfectly positioned. When he went out of the slipstream, he overtook the world champion Mads pedersen (Trek – Segafredo) seemingly child's play. Peter Sagan (Bora – hansgrohe) was third. With that crowns Sam Bennett his outstanding Tour de France: two stage wins and winning the green jersey.

Tadej Pogacar clears

As usual, the overall leader was no longer attacked on the final stage of the Tour de France. So wins Tadej pogacar (UAE) at the age of only 21 as the second youngest professional of all time to complete the Tour of France. Tomorrow he will be 22 years old. In addition to the yellow jersey, he can also take home the white jersey as the best junior and the dotted jersey as the best climber. The green jersey as the winner of the points classification received in Paris Sam Bennett (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) presented. The Swiss was the most combative driver of the past three weeks Marc Hirschi (Sunweb) awarded. The team ranking goes to Movistar. The entire cycling world is particularly happy for Richie porte (Trek – Segafredo). The 35-year-old Australian celebrates what is probably the greatest success of his career with the podium. For years he was considered one of the favorites in major national tours. However, due to numerous falls, he was never able to achieve such a top ranking – until today.

Sam Bennett wins the last stage of the Tour de France with a powerful sprint on the Champs-Élysées after a perfect leadout by Michael Morkov. He was the best sprinter of this tour, that Green Jersey is well deserved! 👏 #TDF2020 pic.twitter.com/xhWpxNLQKF
