Product News | E-MTB | E-trekking: The Austrian bicycle manufacturer Simplon from beautiful Vorarlberg is launching two new light e-bikes, the RAPCON PMAX TQ and the SILKCARBON TQ. Simplon is following the trend of providing moderate support from a motor, significantly saving weight and thus coming as close as possible to the ride and handling of a biobike. For those who want more, there's also the right range extender.
Simplon Light e-bikes with TQ motor
Lighter, quieter, go! - The motto of Simplon fits: 3,9 kg total weight brings the complete Motor system HPR50 from TQ with 360 Wh battery on the scales. This is a statement and at the same time the lightest system in its class. With its 50 NM and 300 W, the TQ motor provides enough power to master even steep climbs with little effort. At the same time, it is almost noiseless and gives the driver a natural driving experience thanks to, among other things, an almost immediate traction. Another advantage of the system is its compact design. The motor and battery are so small that they no longer noticeably affect the geometry of the bicycle frame. In other words: The frame does not have to be built around the motor and battery, as with the power pack, for example Panasonic GX Ultimate. This advantage of the TQ motor is also evident in the Simplon RAPCON PMAX TQ.
With its 360 Wh, the battery is sufficient for almost any ordinary tour. If you want to be on the safe side or have really big plans, you can order the 160 Wh additional battery in the practical online configurator from Simplon. However, this is not exactly cheap at €600.
We have already presented the TQ engine here:
TQ HPR50: New drive system for light E-MTBs presented
E-MTB / product news: With the TQ HPR50 we can look forward to a new drive especially for light E-MTBs. With a complete system weight of less than 4 kilograms, it is one of the lightest things on the market and with 50 Nm of torque and a 360 Wh battery, the technical data also seem promising. There is movement […]
New Light E-MTB: Simplon RAPCON PMAX TQ
The Simplon RAPCON PMAX TQ comes as a sophisticated E-MTB; small details such as reasonably sized brake discs (220mm/200mm) are immediately noticeable. In addition, the length of the chainstays changes with the different frame sizes - a rarity on the market. In this way, the geometry and the associated driving characteristics adapt even better to the body size of the driver. Speaking of adjustment: the geometry can be further influenced using a flip chip. This can be used, for example, to compensate for the mullet option with a 27,5″ rear wheel, which can be selected using Simplon’s own online configurator. Incidentally, you can also choose between 150 mm and 170 mm/165 mm spring travel. From use as a trail bike to a fast enduro, all options are open. With a weight of just 17,6 kg, every tour should feel almost like a biobike. The basic equipment as a whole is already quite high-quality, but at €8.599 it also has its price. At Simplon there seems to be no compromises.
