Cycling: Richard Carapaz won the 20th stage of the Vuelta a Espana. The Ecuadorian was part of a leading group, but was the only one remaining in front of the group of favorites to cross the finish line. Remco Evenepoel confidently defended his red jersey and is therefore facing his first overall victory in a Grand Tour.
Carapaz just doesn't give up
Actually, everything looked as if the favorites would be able to decide the day's victory among themselves after 181 kilometers from Moralzarzal to Puerto de Navacerrada. But then outliers appeared Richard Carapaz (Ineos Grenadiers) again. The Ecuadorian was eight seconds ahead Thymen Arensmann (DSM) across the finish line. In addition to his victory in the mountains classification, Carapaz is also celebrating his third day's victory at this year's Vuelta a Espana. Almost all of the favorites reached the finish line at the same time. So it's allowed Remco Evenepoel (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) celebrated their first overall Grand Tour win. Beside him tomorrow in Madrid Enric Mas Nicolau (Movistar) and Juan Ayuso (UAE) stand.
