Cycling: Primoz Roglic flexed his muscles again at the end of the Vuelta a Espana. The Slovenian won the final time trial and of course the entire tour - for the third time in a row.
Roglic perfects the Vuelta hat trick
After 2019 and 2020 wins Primois Roglic (Jumbo – Visma) so also this year the Vuelta a Espana. The Slovenian makes his Vuelta hat-trick perfect. With four stage victories and a lead of more than three minutes in the overall standings, he can be celebrated as a deserved winner. The Spaniard completes the podium of the Tour of Spain Enric Mas Nicolau (Movistar) and the Australian Jack Haig (Bahrain-Victorious). In the final time trial to Santiago de Compostela, Primoz let Roglic Magnus Court (EF-Nippo) and Thyman Arensman (DSM) trailed by 14 and 52 seconds respectively. Felix Grossschartner (Bora – hansgrohe) came in a strong seventh and was therefore tenth in the overall standings.
Jakobsen wins the points classification
You can also celebrate Fabio Jacobsen (Deceuninck - Quick Step). After three stage wins in the sprint, the Dutchman also wins the points classification. It was certainly a special feeling for him, as about 13 months ago in Poland he fell so badly that he had to be put into an artificial coma. Michael Storer (DSM) from Australia wins the mountains classification. Victory in the junior classification goes to the Swiss Gino Mader (Bahrain - Victorious) who was able to catch Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) thanks to a strong team effort on yesterday's stage. That's another reason why the team can Bahrain–Victorious happy about the success in the team ranking.
