myvelo: High-quality e-bikes from Germany

August 27, 2021 by Florian Nowak

Having started with e-folding bikes back then, the German e-bike manufacturer myvélo has been able to continuously expand its product range and now has e-mountain bikes and e-trekking bikes in its portfolio in addition to motorized folding bikes. The founders of the still young brand from the Black Forest were both active as racing cyclists and are now bringing their experience of thousands of kilometers by bike to the brand. One thing was particularly important to both of them: Made in Black Forest! We found out for you how this connection to home is reflected in the bikes and how it can be that MyVelo is still available despite the huge demand on the market.

The myvélo portfolio includes several different e-bike models with different equipment variants. From practical e-folding bikes to standard e-MTBs to e-trekking bikes, myvélo covers almost every need. A very special trademark can be recognized quite quickly when leafing through it, because mostly (extra) wide tires can be found on myvélo bikes. Despite high quality and design standards, Myvelo can offer the bikes at an affordable price, even though they clearly rely on the "Made in Black Forest" trademark.

The e-mountain bikes from myvélo

With the sporty ones E-Mountain Bike Designs Himalayas, Palermo and Denver you should be perfectly equipped for leisure and everyday life, especially since you don't have to shy away from one or the other detour. All models are light hardtails, which, with their balanced frame geometry and, depending on the model, with rigid fork or air suspension, ensure safety and smooth running even in turbulent sections. In order to support the driver as best as possible, either a Shimano Steps E8000 motor with 70 Nm or a Shimano Steps EP8 with 85 Nm is used. You shouldn't have any problems with it on difficult sections uphill and you should always have the necessary amount of tailwind in your luggage. On all models, the brake and shift cables are integrated in the frame and are therefore protected from dirt and water.

With the Milano, Ibiza and Palermo models, MyVelo has three high-quality ones Models in the trekking area. The Milano relies on a classic diamond frame, while the Ibiza comes with a comfortable step-through frame. The 27,5 inch wheels are equipped with wide balloon tires and offer a lot of comfort and control on any surface. The power for the Milano is provided by a Shimano Steps E8000, while the Ibiza relies on the support of an E6100. Both trekking e-bikes are equipped with a 500-watt-hour battery from Shimano for particularly long rides. The trekking e-bikes are all equipped with hydraulic disc brakes, lights, mudguards and a self-developed luggage rack and can therefore be used flexibly.

The electric folding bikes from myvélo are called Palma, Rio, Zurich and Berlin and are all solidly equipped and, thanks to the easy-to-use folding mechanism, can be folded up quickly for travel on public transport or in the trunk.myvelo

The Berlin and Zurich models are equipped with narrower 20-inch tires, while the Rio and Palma models offer additional stability with their extra-wide tires and offer an extremely versatile range of use. All electric folding bikes come with a rear motor.

The entire myvélo range is available from the online shop. The bikes are currently not available from specialist retailers.

More than Florian Nowak

Florian Nowak is a professional cyclist at the EuropeTour level and has competed in many international races. At the German championship in 2017, he was the best non-WorldTour professional in 7th place and was therefore able to recommend himself for the Tour de L'Avenir and the World Championships. But he doesn't just feel comfortable on the racing bike, he's also always drawn to off-road terrain. In addition to sport, he works on his second mainstay and has completed his business administration studies at the LMU Munich.
