Continental Ruban and eRuban Plus : All-round SUV tires for on- and off-road performance

March 17, 2021 by Andrew Waldera

Product news: With the two tire models Ruban and eRuban Plus, Continental is expanding its range to include the new SUV all-rounder tire category. The tires were developed with a view to outstanding performance both on and off the road. For the launch of the new models, the German tire manufacturer involved the legendary freerider Matt Jones.

The Ruban is inspired by mountain bikes, but has an energy-saving center tread that is supposed to ensure high speed without losses even on asphalt. According to the manufacturer, changeable surfaces do not pose a challenge for the tire. The PureGrip Compound rubber compound is intended to ensure outstanding grip and durability. The Ruban model is available as a clincher or tubeless-ready version and is suitable for e-bikes up to 25 km/h. The eRuban Plus was specially developed for fast S-Pedelecs. This has the extremely resistant polyester fiber PolyX Breaker, which has also been used successfully in the passenger car sector for years. PlusBreaker, a highly elastic rubber layer, is also said to make the tire almost impenetrable to foreign objects. Both the Ruban and the eRuban Plus offer the option of a reflective strip for increased visibility in traffic. The tires are available immediately, the prices are 25,90 euros (Ruban) and 31,90 euros (eRuban Plus).
