Cycling: Sonny Colbrelli has succeeded in taking revenge. On the second stage of the Route d'Occitanie, the Italian triumphed in front of yesterday's winner Bryan Coquard.
Colbrelli brings Bahrain - McLaren the second victory of the day
It's been a long time since the McLaren Formula 1 team last won. Cycling is better. After Damiano Caruso today the Basque One day race Circuito de Getxo won, his compatriot triumphed just a few minutes later Sonny Colbrelli in the Route d'Occitanie. The Italian won the third section in a mass sprint ahead of yesterday's winner Bryan coquard (B&B Hotels – Vital Concept). As a result, the Frenchman managed to defend his overall lead. Again not satisfied with his performance Elia Viviani (Cofidis). The top Italian sprinter finished eighth on the 174,5-kilometer stage from Carcassonne to Cap Découverte.
Route d'Occitanie: Tomorrow we're off to the mountains
After the sprinters were allowed to fight for the day's victory yesterday and today, they won't play a role tomorrow. Then it's off to the high mountains. After the start in Saint-Gaudens, three mountains of the first category have to be conquered. The Port de Balès, the Col de Peyresourde and the Col de Beyrède are of course well known to cycling enthusiasts. It will not only be exciting with regard to the overall ranking of the Route d'Occitanie. The fans will be particularly interested in watching the Ineos team. How strong are you presenting yourself Egan Bernal and Chris Froome? And how in good shape are the two French tour hopefuls Romain Bardet and Thibaut Pinot?
