GCA Classic: Races also for athletes without a license

June 10, 2020 by Michael Behringer

GCA classic

Cycling: In times of Corona, eCycling is booming like never before. To ensure that it stays that way afterwards, those involved work hard. As part of the GCA classics, there is now also the opportunity to take part in the races without a license.

GCA classics also for everyone

Amateur races are extremely popular in cycling. E-cycling is now capitalizing on this popularity. Following the success of the GCA League, the equally popular GCA Classics series is currently underway. Here, too, the best professional on the trainer is sought every Saturday. But this time, in addition to licensed riders, athletes without a license can also participate in amateur races.

Register, participate & win a jersey

The level without a license is called the "Community Class ." Here, all participants without an official license compete against each other. In Zwift's so-called private races, there are separate starting blocks for men and women. Although no official license is required, riders must still register with Zwift as usual. They must also register for the race on the platform rad-net.de. The relevant section can be found under "Road -> Race Announcements -> GCA." Two more races are expected to be held on Saturdays. The routes will be announced the Wednesday before. As an additional incentive, the German Cycling Federation (BDR) will raffle off a signed BDR World Championship jersey from the German national team for each race.

BDR Vice President for Competitive Sports, Gunter Schabel:
"We deliberately want to involve the community athletes in these virtual races - the format of which was very well received by the licensed drivers."
