Wheelie on Mt Everest [Video]: Manuel Scheidegger rides 8848 meters in altitude on the rear wheel

June 23, 2020 by Andrew Waldera

Lifestyle / Video: For as long as anyone can remember, Mount Everest has held a special fascination for our species. At 8848 meters, Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world - setting a mark that has an almost magical effect on cyclists. This also applies to Manuel Scheidegger, who a few days ago covered 8848 meters in altitude on the rear wheel with his Wheelie on Mt. Everest.

Recently, the Everesting Challenges, which have the mark of 8848 meters as a goal, have increased. Especially in the times of Corona, cyclists are practically battling each other to see who cracks this magic number in which area. Actually, it can't be unusual enough, as Manuel Scheidegger's Wheelie on Mt. Everest shows. From June 19th to 20th, the Swiss climbed 8848 meters on the rear wheel, actually 9029 meters in altitude. He needed 130 laps with a total of 223 kilometers on the Hartlisberg in Steffisburg, he was on the road in 21:12 hours. A great performance! With the challenge, the Swiss would like money for a Wheels4Nepal (https://www.wheels4nepal.ch/) bike project in Nepal. The video "Wheelie on Mt. Everest" was produced by LS behind the camera GmbH in Ittigen / Switzerland.
