Disappointment and ray of hope at the same time: Even if the Bike Transalp 2020 will not take place this year due to the corona pandemic, the organizers are ensuring a ray of hope for riders and fans alike by setting a new date for 2021. The 23rd edition of the legendary mountain bike stage race through the Alps for everyone is now scheduled to take place from July 04th to 10th, 2021.
Due to the effects of the corona virus, the 23rd edition of the Bike Transalp has been postponed by almost exactly one year. For the first time since it was first held in 1998, the legendary event cannot be held as usual. “To the very end, together with our partners, we hoped to be able to implement the Bike Transalp this year. Unfortunately, the current situation, also with regard to worldwide travel restrictions and the restrictions imposed by the Austrian and Italian authorities, makes it impossible to hold such a large and international event. That's why the Bike Transalp will unfortunately have to be canceled this year and we'll concentrate on 2021 with all our might," comments event manager Monika Weber on the current situation.
Although the cancellation of the Bike Transalp for 2020 is certainly very painful, the fixing of the new date in 2021 provides hope and joy. The 23rd edition of the Bike Transalp is now scheduled to take place from July 04th to 10th, 2021 in seven stages from Nauders to Riva del Garda through the Alps. According to the organizer, the route with around 500 kilometers and 18.000 meters in altitude as well as the stage locations will be maintained as planned. Good news for all drivers who have already secured a starting place for this year's edition: The guaranteed starting place remains in place until January 31, 2021, and with it the possibility of canceling the booking free of charge. New registrations for the Bike Transalp 2021 will be possible from July 05th, 2020.
