Pegasus novelties 2020: Trekking bikes and sporty e-bikes

29 November 2019 by Caspar Gebel

E-bike, trekking, innovations: The popular bicycle brand Pegasus is ringing in the new year 2020 with many interesting innovations. Attractive all-rounders can already be found in the middle price ranges, while Pegasus shows in the e-bike upper class what can be driven with the most powerful Bosch motor.

Still number 1: the classic trekking bike

E-cargo bikes or e-MTBs well above 5.000 euros may be the lighthouse projects on the bicycle market in 2020, but the music is playing in other segments. Even in the age of electric bikes, the classic trekking bikes are always up to date, and they are also in high demand without a motor, especially as they offer many advantages as perfect all-rounders. Manufacturer Pegasus covers the area with different model families, of which three innovations for 2020 particularly stand out.

Pegasus Premio SL Disc 27 – a trekking bike straight out of a pattern book

The Premio SL Disc 27 can be seen as an archetypal trekking bike, which is exemplary in declining the classic features of its kind – especially with components that come directly from mountain bikes. This is a 27-speed gear system with the typical three chainrings at the front, which combines a wide range of gear ratios with pleasantly fine gradations. So you are always on tour with a fluid step and can also pedal on steep climbs with high frequency and little effort. This is complemented by a soft, responsive suspension fork with a hydraulic lockout, which reduces shocks wonderfully on bad roads and also enables safe and comfortable progress on unpaved roads.

Disc brakes have also made their way into the cycling world via mountain bikes, and there has long been no alternative, especially in the higher price ranges. They convert moderately strong manual force into high deceleration, are easy to dose and do not lose their effectiveness even in adverse weather conditions - an important criterion especially for everyday drivers.

High-quality equipment and details such as a Monkey Link bottle cage make a good trekking bike.

Combined with a solid system luggage rack, on which special baskets can be attached, but also panniers on the side, as well as a bright LED lighting system with fail-safe hub dynamo, the Premio SL Disc 27 is equipped with high quality and functionality all around - in city traffic and on longer tours this is it Wheel a convincing example of its kind.

Pegasus Solero SL 24 – exemplary value for money

With somewhat modest equipment, the following two Pegasus models carry the good qualities of top trekking bikes into the middle price range. With the Solero SL 24, the rear sprocket set has been reduced from nine to eight, which minimally reduces the gear ratio. Deceleration is done here with powerful rim brakes, which have the advantage of being easier to maintain, for example if the pads have to be changed. The suspension fork is a little shorter, the lighting system with LED lights and parking lights at the front and rear is also up to date. Also available in three frame shapes, this model also has a classic shaft stem - not quite as stiff as the Ahead stem on the more expensive Premio, easy to adjust in height.

A trekking bike like the Solero 24 also leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to the slightly cheaper details - it is also available as a women's or trapeze frame version.

Pegasus Piazza 21 - a trekking bike ideal for bargain hunters

The mid-range model Piazza 21 with 3×7 gears, V-brakes and suspension fork is hardly more economical. Again available in three frame shapes and beautiful color variants, the inexpensive trekking bike is aimed at riders who don't care about the last bit of durability. More expensive models may shine with less wear - in terms of driving characteristics and function, this model can also be driven safely and lightly.

The Pegasus Piazza is fun and looks great.

Pegasus Avanti 24 - children's bike for the way to school

From a size of 24 inches, children's bikes should be completely roadworthy: light, bell, reflectors ...

The Avanti children's bike adopts functional features from the trekking category and, with 24-inch wheels, covers around primary school age. As a typical "All Terrain Bike", it combines the traffic safety of a high-quality lighting system with hub dynamo and LED lights with MTB components: a suspension fork with a stroke of at least 50 mm and powerfully profiled off-road tires; plus either a 3×6-speed derailleur or a maintenance-free 7-speed hub gear from Shimano. Together with a sturdy luggage rack, this bike is just as sporty as it is suitable for everyday use - it makes children just as happy as it satisfies their parents.

Pegasus Premio Evo 10 Lite - one of the best-selling e-bikes in Germany

Where the trekking bikes from Pegasus shine with classic, proven features, the e-bike innovations for 2020 are extremely modern. "Premio Evo" stands for upper-class models with the most powerful Bosch motor of the current design - the Performance Line CX of the fourth generation - and a battery hidden in the down tube with either 400, 500 or, more recently, a total of 625 watt hours. Massive range for long daily stages with luggage, mountainous tours or everyday trips with a child trailer in tow. The Premio Evo 10 Lite with ten-speed derailleur gears can be considered a typical e-trekking bike, as usual available in three frame shapes and with an upright sitting position and curved handlebars tailored to comfort-oriented cyclists who still want to have a powerful motor underneath them. The stable hydraulic disc brakes should not be missing in this category, which have prevailed with a few exceptions on e-bikes.

The Pegasus Premio e-bike model range is extremely broad and offers high-quality e-bikes for almost every application.

Pegasus Premio Evo 12 Lite Cross – sporty e-trekking bike for high demands

The Premio Evo 12 Lite Cross has a sportier cut, with MTB handlebars with bar ends, a wide 12-speed cassette in combination with the very latest Shimano XNUMX_speed XT groupset and studded tires for untroubled riding fun on easy terrain. The short plug-in mudguards are typical for cross bikes; In terms of everyday use, this bike is up to par anyway.

The Pegasus Premio EVO Cross lite is a true all-purpose bike for the way to the office as well as for weekend tours through forest and meadows.

Pegasus Premio Evo 5F Lite Belt – The e-trekking bike with special features

The Premio Evo 5F Lite Belt is tailored for maximum low-maintenance with a high level of comfort. Its five-speed gear hub is specially tuned to the high torque of the mid-engine; the belt drive does not require any further maintenance, provided the correct tension is used. In addition to the suspension fork, a spring-loaded seat post ensures comfort. The touring bike, which is pleasant to ride, has a system luggage carrier and 100 lux spotlights in front in common with its brand siblings.

The low-maintenance Premio EVO 5F Belt with belt drive and special e-bike hub gears is an all-round carefree bike.
