Sigma Sport and VDO announce merger: Sports electronics manufacturers want to further expand market potential

September 13, 2019 by Andrew Waldera

News in brief: Sigma Sport and VDO announced their merger with a bang. The two sports electronics manufacturers want to use the merger to make better use of their market shares in the future. Despite the merger, Sigma Sport and VDO will remain as two independent brands.

Gerold Weindel from VDO takes over the sales management for both brands

Sports electronics manufacturers Sigma Sport and VDO are now going the same way. Since both manufacturers market very similar product categories, the merger enables a bundling of competencies. In the official press release, Robin Schendel, Managing Director and owner of Sigma Sport, explains: "By merging our two companies, we see ourselves well positioned in a dynamic market environment in the future and will thus further expand our market potential". Both companies will use the premises and logistics of Sigma-Elektro GmbH in the future. Despite the merger, Sigma Sport and VDO will remain as two independent, parallel brands. According to information, a further expansion of the VDO lighting range is also planned.
