Cycling: Jonasrutsch will comment on the Deutschland Tour 2019 for us in his race diary. The 21-year-old is driving for the third year with the German Continental Team Lotto – Kern-Haus. For the upcoming season, he will join EF Education First on the WorldTour. But what counts for him now is a good result on the Deutschland Tour – despite an injury.
“We had a faux pass during the team presentation”
Today was the team presentation, the most interesting part of the day. Otherwise we rode with the team here in Hanover for an hour beforehand. We also drove part of the way. The teams' presentation was cool, even with the post-tour criterion. There were a lot of spectators there. Unfortunately we had a faux pass at our team presentation. We were instructed to go straight up, but we were too early and were sent down again. But then we were all introduced. We are also very well positioned overall. We have our cars and camper, the physios etc.
"I can't move my finger"
Tomorrow we'll go to the start of the first stage and see how it goes. For me personally it's a bit complicated. I still had my finger in a splint after falling at the Tour de l'Avenir. I actually didn't fall at all myself. Rather, my finger was cut when the chainring of a wheel flying through the air hit me. I still can't move my finger. I've splinted him and am trying to coordinate everything with my other fingers. But my form is good and I think we can show something as a team. I hope for luck in the next few days - then the Deutschland Tour will be a really cool tour!
