MTB News: The participants of the Bike Transalp 2019 can look forward to exciting innovations. The 22nd edition of the legendary crossing of the Alps will be held on a new route with a new destination. In addition to the traditional team ranking, there will also be an individual ranking for the first time.
The 14nd edition of the BIKE Transalp will start on July 22th. Seven stages with a total of 550 kilometers and 18.500 meters in altitude are on the program in 2019. Tux in the Zillertal celebrates its premiere as the starting point of the Bike Transalp, and the stage destination has also changed. It is not Riva del Garda that will welcome the up to 1.000 participants at the finish line on July 20, but Molveno in Trentino-South Tyrol. The route with the three new stage locations Tux, Welschnofen in South Tyrol and Molveno was worked out by Marc Schneider, manager of the race and course. The route should contain numerous trail passages that have not yet been ridden in any Transalp.
"The Transalp includes everything that the Alps have to offer mountain bikers: Completely new panoramic trails in the high mountains such as the new path from the Tuxer Joch to the Schirntal or fun tracks such as the flowing "Jerry-Line" in the Brixen Bike Park or the CarezzaTrail in Nova Levante" - Marc Schneider, Head of Race and Track
Another novelty concerns the rating itself. As part of the Bike Transalp 2019, there will be an individual rating for the first time in addition to the team rating. The individual starter contingent, limited to 200 starting places, includes the five categories of men, women, men's masters over 40 years of age, men's grand masters over 60 years of age and U23. The entry fee for team and individual drivers is 899 euros per person, the U23 drivers receive a starting place for 699 euros.
