MTB News: Max Brandl and Georg Egger get their first joint success in a stage race at the 4th edition of Epic Israel. The Lexware duo completed the day's fourth place in Kibutz Ma'ala Hamisha on the third and final day despite a tire defect.
The Lexware mountain bike team crowns its trip to Israel by winning the overall ranking of the Epic Israel. Although it was a sovereign victory in the end, Georg Egger and Max Brandl still worked up a sweat on the last 61 kilometers. The reason for this was a flat tire on the bike of German U23 champion Max Brandl. Despite re-pumping, the air should not hold, what followed was an unscheduled impeller change. After the forced stop, the two Lexware mountain bike team riders finished the race in superior style and crossed the finish line as fourth on the day.
With a lead of 3:42 minutes in the overall standings, the Lexware duo achieved their first mutual success in a stage race ahead of the Austrians Karl Markt and Gregor Raggl. In the women's category, Anne Terpstra from the Netherlands and Barbara Benko from Hungary secured overall victory. Bad luck befell the U23 driver Antonia Daubermann, who ran the last twelve kilometers on the third stage after several failed repair attempts. In the end, she had to settle for fifth place in the overall standings, finishing eighth on the day.
