Cycling: The German team Bora-hansgrohe has signed Maximilian Schachmann. The 24-year-old is turning his back on Team Quick-Step Floors, which has been successful with over 60 victories this season. Many other cycling transfers have become public in recent weeks. We have them all at a glance!
Maximilian Schachmann sees perfect development opportunities
At 24, Maximilian Schachmann belongs to the younger generation in cycling. These drivers are particularly popular because of their development opportunities. The Bora-hansgrohe team has secured the services of the talented all-rounder for the coming season.
Maximilian Schachmann:
"It's really great that it worked out. As a German professional, riding in a German team is of course perfect. My colleagues have only told me good things about the team, the structures and the spirit there, so I'm really looking forward to the next two years. The path that the team has taken in recent years is very promising, especially for the future of German cycling. Of course I'm very happy to be a part of this journey. I think at Bora-hansgrohe I have perfect development opportunities in a highly professional environment. Now it's up to me to turn those opportunities into results in the years to come.”
Ralph Denk is proud of the German talents in the Bora-hansgrohe team
Maximilian Schachmann (Quick-Step Floors) just missed out on overall victory on the Deutschland Tour. But with his Stage win at the Giro d'Italia the German has already proven that he has a lot of talent. Of course, this has not remained hidden from the German team Bora-hansgrohe around manager Ralph Denk. He is proud to have another top German driver in his own ranks with the transfer.
Ralph Denk:
"You don't have to waste a lot of words about Maximilian's great potential, he has already impressively demonstrated that this year. I'm incredibly happy to be able to unite three of the most important talents in German cycling with Ackermann, Buchmann and Schachmann at Bora-hansgrohe. We were often referred to as the "Sagan Team" in our first two years on the WorldTour. Of course, Peter is the star par excellence and outshines a lot. In his slipstream, however, our young drivers have shown this year that we are more than "just" Sagan. It's also important to me that we emphasize our German heritage. We want to be successful in the future, but not only with Sagan, but also with our German-speaking talents. Maximilian will have the opportunity to develop slowly with us. He has great potential on all terrains which needs to be developed carefully. I am very much looking forward to this common path.”
