E-Performance: As a family-owned automotive supplier, Brose has worked its way up to fourth place in the world rankings and now supplies 200 million electric motors to car manufacturers worldwide every year. The family business has transferred the know-how from mechatronic systems for vehicle doors and seats as well as electric motors and electronics for numerous vehicle elements to drive systems for electric bicycles. Brose engineers have designed an innovative drive system for electric bicycles that has been produced in Berlin since 2014. Development, sales, marketing and production of the drives are bundled in the e-bike competence center there. Since then, more than a quarter of a million electrified bicycles have been equipped with Brose drives.

Brose Drive e-bike drives – Four drives, one product family
The flexible installation options and the compact form of the Brose drive enable bicycle manufacturers to develop appealing designs and to integrate the drive into the frame in an elegant way. This is not the only reason why e-bikes with Brose drives often win renowned design prizes, such as the iF Design Award or the German Design Award. In addition to the geometrically and optically similar key data, Brose defines specific software parameters for each manufacturer and purpose of the e-bike. Thus, the individual models have their own driving behavior.
Compared to other drives on the market, Brose drives are very quiet and low-vibration, which is achieved by a carbon-reinforced belt inside. Nevertheless, powerful but dosed support is provided. Through the use of a highly sensitive sensor system, the drive power can be precisely metered. If you pedal more, you get more support from the system. This should result in harmonious and balanced driving behavior. Even if the battery is empty or you as a driver want to ride without support and deactivate the drive, two independently acting freewheels ensure resistance-free pedaling. This creates a very natural driving experience. Of course, the additional weight of 3,4 kilograms of the drive and around three kilograms of the battery (depending on the type) has to be moved.

Brose e-bike drives – Drive T – the all-rounder
The Brose Drive T is the right companion for a trekking bike or city bike. You can go on extended tours with the long-distance runner or just cycle into town to go shopping. Like all drives in the Brose Drive product family, the Drive T has a maximum torque of 90 Newton meters, but with “limited” support of a maximum of 320%. However, this somewhat reduced support is noticeable in terms of range and efficiency. The Brose Drive T supports pushing up to a speed of six kilometers per hour. The restricted maximum speed is 25 kilometers per hour.

Brose e-bike drives – Drive S Alu – the sporty one
The Brose Drive S Alu is mainly found on more sporty bicycles, mostly mountain bikes, where performance and control are paramount. The Drive S Alu offers 380% peak support with a maximum torque of 90 Newton meters. However, this power is ideally dosed when it is deployed, so that ideal traction can be achieved without loss of control up to 25 kilometers per hour even in difficult terrain. If things get tricky on the trail, the Brose Drive S Alu has walk assistance available up to six kilometers per hour.

Brose E-Bike Drives – Drive TF – The Sprinter
The Brose Drive TF is the drive of choice for all commuters and long-distance commuters. The S-Pedelec motor is based on the Drive T, but relies on power and speed. 380% assistance performance and a torque of 90 Newton meters support an S-Pedelec up to a speed of 45 kilometers per hour. In addition, the Brose Drive TF has a starting aid up to a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.
Brose E-Bike Antiebe - Drive S Mag - The new lightweight
The latest drive in the Brose product family is the Brose Drive S Mag. The abbreviation "Mag" stands for the magnesium housing. Thanks to this new material, the drive unit can be made 15% smaller and thus better integrated into the bike design. In addition to optimizing the hardware, the electronics and software of the Brose Drive S Mag have also been further developed. The maximum power of 90 Newton meters can be accessed over a significantly larger area and also enables support of up to 410%.
Another novelty that was presented at Eurobike 2018 is the additional innovative "Flex Power Mode" riding mode, which is available for the Brose Drive S Mag. With CPC (Cadence Power Control), a torque and speed controlled support, up to 30% more power can be used at high cadences. In addition, the newly developed PPR (Progressive Pedal Response) delivers even faster response. This should enable the e-biker to start up the mountain even more agile and better, and to provide a better driving experience.
Brose e-bike drives – the right drive for every application
Brose offers the right drive for every type of cyclist. In addition to optimized driving and performance characteristics for every area of application, the Brose Drive product family offers a good basis for elegant frame integration. More than 30 bicycle manufacturers worldwide already trust the e-bike drives from Brose.
