Cycling: Although Alberto Contador has ended his active career, the man from Madrilene will probably never stay away from cycling. Now the Spaniard has presented his new team in his home town of Pinto near Madrid. Under the name Polartec-Kometa, it will function as a Continental team for the first time.

Contador, Basso and Hernandez form three teams
It has not gone unnoticed by the experts that Spanish cycling is in a crisis. This is one of the reasons why Alberto Contador has once again increased his commitment with his Foundation. Together with his ex-teammates Ivan Basso and Jesus Hernandez, as well as the sponsors he won, he set up three teams at once. The Polartec-Kometa team will not only have a team in the third division, but also a U23 team and a youth team. All in all, Polartec-Kometa already has 38 riders, including the Austrian Patrick Gamper. The newly formed squad already celebrated their debut at the Tour of Valencia. Now we continue in France with the Tour of Provence and Haut Var.
Alberto Contador:
“We don't just want to help our riders become professional cyclists. They are meant to grow as individuals and showcase our principles: Honesty, Teamwork, and Sacrifice. These are ideals that we also share with our sponsors. We want to give back to cycling everything it gave us.”
Ivan Basso:
“The project has a bright future that needs all of you, riders, technicians and sponsors, to move forward. We are like a family working together to make this dream possible.”
