Cycling: Rafal Majka (Bora-hansgrohe) is currently at the Vuelta a San Juan in Argentina. There he is preparing for the 2018 season, which should be better than the previous one. But 2017 wasn't bad either, as Majka told VeloNews. Only a good portion of bad luck prevented a really good year.
Majka wants to forget bad luck
At the age of 28, Rafal Majka can already look back on some great successes. Among other things, the Pole won the mountain classification of the Tour de France twice and three stages, as well as the Tour of Poland and Bronze at the Rio Olympics. He has also finished in the top 7 three times at the Giro d'Italia and was third at the Vuelta a Espana. Actually, last year he finally wanted to attack in the overall standings at the Tour de France, but a fall prevented a good result.
Rafal Majka:
"Let's just forget the bad luck. The goal is to improve my training a little bit. Other than that, we just hope to have a bit more luck this year.”

Poitschke sees great results in the future
In addition to Majka himself, sports director Enrico Poitschke is of the opinion that the Pole was not bad at all in 2017 and only bad luck played a decisive role.
Enrico Poitschke:
“The fall on the tour wasn't a mistake, it was just pure bad luck. We don't need a lot of luck in 2018, we just don't want Rafal to have that bad luck again. If he is in a similar condition this season as last year then we can get great results.”
Peter & Rafal = Green & Top 5
The dream duo of Peter Sagan and Rafal Majka has already worked extremely well for the Saxo-Tinkoff team. At that time, the Slovak grabbed green and the Pole spotted. Now the goals have been slightly changed. Green remains the goal for the World Champion while Majka aims to finish in the top five.
Rafal Majka:
"I'm still a long way from my goals for the Tour and the Vuelta. I have to see what form I come back from Argentina with. We also have Peter, the team is there for him as well. He wants to win the green jersey again and the team will help me get into the top 5 in the Tour de France. I will fight hard for it.”
