Bora – hansgrohe celebrates 23 wins this season
The development of the German team Bora – hansgrohe is almost unique in modern professional cycling. Started in 2010 as Team NetApp, after the name change they made the leap to one of the best WorldTour teams in 2017 at the latest with the signing of Peter Sagan. Successful in the classics and the stage chase, the Raubling racing team has finally developed into a strong GC team over the past two years. Jai Hindley won the Giro d'Italia in 2022. In 2023, Bora – Hansgrohe wanted to build on this success. This didn't quite work out, as no Grand Tour had a rider on the overall podium at the end of the three weeks. Lennard Kamna finished ninth overall at the Giro d'Italia and Jay Hindley, and Alexander Vlasov seventh overall at the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana. Nevertheless, the only German WorldTour team can look forward to a total of 23 victories this season. Thanks to Nico Denz, Jai Hindley, Jordi Meeus and Lennard Kamna Stage victories were achieved in all three major national tours. What is particularly pleasing, however, is the development of Cian Uijtdebroeks. The Belgian rode a fantastic Vuelta and finished just one place behind captain Vlasov. The only question is whether he will also drive for the Raubling racing team in 2024. Because Jumbo – Visma recently announced that he wants to join the Dutch. Bora – hansgrohe denies an agreement.
2024: Roglic strengthens the GC team
In order to have a say in the overall ranking of the Tour de France in the coming season, Bora – Hansgrohe has decided to do so without further ado Primois Roglic obligated. The reigning winner of the Giro d'Italia has already won the Vuelta a Espana three times and, now 3 years old, is still considered one of the strongest classification riders in the peloton. With Daniel Felipe Martinez Another strong mountain rider joins the team. The Spaniard Roger Adria and the German Emil Herzog should still have enormous development potential uphill. Sam Welsforf comes from DSM and is considered a classic sprinter. He replaces in the squad Sam Bennett, who turns his back on Bora – Hansgrohe after just one year. In addition, the Austrians leave Patrick Conrad and the German Nils Politt the team, as well as the Dutchman Ide Schelling and the Italian Matteo Fabbro. This means that the character of the team changes again without the goals having to be updated. Bora – hansgrohe remains a strong team on almost every terrain, but the focus is increasingly being placed on the overall standings. For the first time, they want to finish on the podium at the Tour of France. With this squad, this plan seems realistic.
