Advent calendar: The Hiplok DX is a practical and at the same time secure U-lock that can be easily stowed away with the CLIP+RIDE system while driving, even without a special bracket.
Unfortunately indispensable nowadays, whether in the country or in the city: A high-quality bicycle lock. The risk of theft is simply too great, of course especially with high-quality bikes. The selection of different locks is correspondingly large: there are countless shapes, construction methods, sizes, price ranges and manufacturers. The British manufacturer Hiplok has been able to emancipate itself from its former niche in recent years and is now almost one of the “big ones”.
Hiplok started with high-quality chain locks that could be worn around the waist like a belt while driving (hence the name hip). In the meantime, the portfolio has been significantly expanded, including some U-locks that still offer the best protection against theft. This includes the Hiplok DX, which meets the Sold Secure Gold Standard. The British testing institute Sold Secure has been testing locks of all kinds for over 20 years. The institute divides bicycle locks into three categories: gold, silver and bronze. In Great Britain, many insurers link their benefits to the use of a lock with a certain Sold Secure Level, as the classification is independent.
However, the original idea of practical accommodation while driving is by no means forgotten at Hiplok and has also been transferred to its U-locks. These come with a large, robust plastic clip, which can be used to easily attach the lock, which weighs just over 1 kg, to a belt or backpack, for example, without having to resort to special brackets.
The 14mm shackle is covered with a protective nylon coating to prevent damage to the frame when locking. The scope of delivery also includes three coded keys.
