Product news: Advent Calendar #4: Crankbrothers Stamp 3 Danny MacAskill Edition

3 December 2017 by the editorial office

Product news: The Crankbrothers Stamp 3 in the Danny MacAskill Edition is an attractively priced and high-quality flat pedal with a durable construction and robust pedal body.

Last year, the Stamp Pedal from US manufacturer Crankbrothers saw the light of day and for this season three or four new versions were added due to the high demand. The inexpensive entry-level model was already convincing in our test and offered little reason for criticism.

One of the new variants is a special edition by Danny MacAskill. It corresponds to the mid-range model Stamp 3 - quite unusual for a special version for athletes, since these are usually located in the high-price segment. However, the charismatic Scot explicitly did not want a noble variant with his name, which in the end nobody can afford. At €99,90, the Stamp 3 MacAskill Edition isn't extremely cheap, but it offers good value for money for what's on offer.

Like all Crankbrothers Stamp pedals it is available in two sizes. The footprint of the small pedal (Crankbrothers recommends it up to shoe size 43) measures 100x100mm, the large one is 114x110mm. Great importance was attached to the bearing, which in the past was always a problem with pedals from the cult manufacturer. With double-sealed ball bearings from Enduro and a high-quality IGUS plain bearing, these problems should now be a thing of the past. Bonus: The pedal can also be easily maintained by laypeople.

At 399g or 455g, it's not necessarily a lightweight, but the robust pedal body can easily cope with heavy ground contact. The 10 pins per side provide the necessary grip.
