Bike build story: In the first part of the build story for our gravel bike, we deal with the basis of the build: the frame. With the Scott Addict Gravel we have opted for a light and stiff base with modern geometry.
At Scott, Addict stands for racing. That's why you shouldn't be fooled by the keyword Gravel in the name. The Scott Addict Gravel Frameset is not a comfortable gravel bike, but more of a very sporty weapon. The price is also sporty: the frame set consisting of frame, fork, seat post, thru-axles and headset costs €2.499, although you also get a lot in return.
The frame set is by no means a copy of the road addict, but has been specially optimized for the needs of off-road use. The frame and fork are designed for disc brakes and are also postmount and flatmount compatible. The trains are laid inside and electronic shifting is also possible. Off-road capability was also considered in terms of comfort. The seatstays are designed with some flex and a 27,2mm post is used for added comfort. A nice detail is the special shape of the struts, which offer very little contact surface for mud and dirt - this makes cleaning up after a bad-weather lap a lot easier.
Scott doesn't restrict us in our choice of 1x or 2x. 1x drives are becoming more and more popular, also for crossers and gravel bikes; However, if you like it as versatile as possible and don't want to do without a wide range or harmonious gear jumps, you still can't avoid the front derailleur. This can be mounted on a holding plate, which can also be removed. If you can get by with one chainring, you can also mount a slim chain guide here, for example. Thru axles are installed at the front and rear in the dimensions 100×12 mm (front) and 142×12 (rear). Since the wheel has to be taken out of the frame quickly when used off-road, the frameset comes with in-house thru-axles, which enable a very quick wheel change.
For the carbon, Scott uses its proven HMF structure (high modulus fibers) for the frame, which offers a good balance between weight and stiffness and has been used successfully for several years.
With our frame in size 58, including the headset, it weighed 1228 grams and the fork 465 grams. That's a statement for a crosser or gravel bike and promises a good basis for a light overall package. The frame has also been improved in terms of rigidity. With the IMP front triangle, larger tube diameters and a PF86 bottom bracket, the stiffness has been increased without sacrificing comfort.
Weights of the Scott Addict Gravel
Frame size 58cm: 1115g
Fork (uncut shaft, incl. axle): 465g
Axis HR: 61g
Seat clamp: 12g
Headset (incl. star nut and cap): 113g
As mentioned at the beginning, don't be fooled by the keyword Gravel and expect a relaxed endurance bike. The geometry of the bike is very sporty and is designed for propulsion and an aerodynamic seating position. In addition, the geometry has been optimized for good straight-line stability, which should come in handy, especially on gravel roads.

Thank you and keep it up!

Hi Sebastian,
Inseam 87, height 187cm….
Frame is an L, depending on how you measure it, it's 58cm, Scott writes "virtual 56cm" on it...
